BBBSMA Annual Big, Little, & Family Picnic Returns

ATLANTA – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) held it’s annual Big, Little, & Family Picnic at Pittsburgh Yards on October 21st, 2023. This yearly event is held to provide a free-of-cost, safe, and fun environment for the BBBSMA volunteers, program enrolled children, and their families to enjoy. The organization and it’s Bigs, Littles, Families spent the day in laughter and celebrating it’s mission of defending the potential of Atlanta’s youth.

This year’s picnic was Homecoming themed, and included ice cream donated by Ben & Jerry’s, burgers brought by Whataburger, bouncy houses, a DJ, face painting, free haircuts donated by barber Lamar McIntosh, staff lunch provided by Chick-fil-A, a performance put on by the Atlanta Braves Heavy Hitters, a flag football game, a tug of war competition, and bouncy balls!

More than 35 volunteers served and 15 vendor participants connected and engaged with over 500 attendees.

We loved getting to interact with our matches and watch them grow even closer in such a fun way. The opportunity for the families of the Littles to connect and build relationships with their children’s Bigs was incredibly important as well. A lot of the matches and their families even got to meet up and hangout with their BBBSMA Match Support Specialist. These chances for connections are yet another reason why our Annual Big, Little, & Family Picnic is such a popular event!

“The BBBSMA Big, Little, & Family Picnic is our most special event where hundreds of our Littles come out and have fun. In this post Covid world families are navigating even tougher challenges,” said Kwame Johnson, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta. “The Picnic is a time for us all to celebrate and have some fun!”
