BBBSMA and Emerging 100 of Atlanta launch “Big for a Day: Educate, Engage, Elevate”

In celebration of National Mentoring Day, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) partnered with the Emerging 100 of Atlanta to host Big for a Day: Educate, Engage, Elevate, a dynamic mentorship initiative created to empower middle school students through education, engagement, and financial literacy.

The event was held at Jean Childs Young Middle School and brought together 60 students for an afternoon of interactive learning. The program exposed students to positive role models, encouraged leadership and character development, and strengthened their understanding of the importance of education and informed decision-making.

A highlight of the day was a financial empowerment session led by William Wesley, CCUFC, CSPO of Delta Community Credit Union. Wesley guided students through lessons on financial literacy and smart money choices, offering practical tools to help them plan for the future. Delta Community Credit Union also presented a generous donation to support the school’s upcoming science and engineering fair, reinforcing their commitment to student growth and academic exploration.

Through this collaboration with the Emerging 100 of Atlanta, students were able to connect with mentors who shared their experiences and offered encouragement to dream big and lead with confidence. The event captured the heart of BBBSMA’s mission, showing how mentorship can open doors, build character, and inspire lasting change in the lives of young people.
