Changing lives through mentorship: Legacy Luncheon 2025
At this year’s Legacy Luncheon, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta is proud to celebrate two remarkable alumni: Benjamin and Lailah. These young leaders’ journeys were transformed when a mentor supported and believed in them.
After losing a parent early in life, Benjamin was raised by his grandmother. As she grew older, he stepped up to care for her, but he still longed for a long-term male role model.

That changed when he met Tomas, an electrical engineer through our Beyond School Walls program at Google. Tomas helped Benjamin explore engineering careers, navigate big life decisions, and apply to college with confidence.
Benjamin went on to become a Google Scholar through the program and is now attending Dartmouth College, pursuing innovation and leadership with a sense of purpose.
His story is a testament to the power of mentorship and to the community that makes it possible.
Lailah joined Big Brothers Big Sisters at just ten years old and was matched with Dr. Elisheba, an OB-GYN whose steady encouragement and belief in her made all the difference.

With her mentor’s support, Lailah found the courage to pursue architecture, a field that blends her creativity, curiosity, and desire to make a lasting impact.
A lifelong musician who has also studied French and Mandarin, she brings her love of learning to everything she does.
Today, Lailah is attending Howard University, majoring in architecture and building toward a future filled with purpose and possibility.
