Big Welcome Dinner: Celebrating Our Newest Bigs

On Aug. 26, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta community gathered at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Buckhead for the Big Welcome Dinner.

The purpose of the dinner was to welcome new Bigs and create space for connection as they begin their match journeys. Surrounded by good food and even better company, attendees had the chance to meet fellow mentors, share their hopes for their match, and learn more about what lies ahead.

The evening featured thoughtful updates and words of encouragement from BBBSMA leadership and staff. BBBSMA CEO Kwame Johnson delivered impactful agency updates, reminding everyone of the life-changing power of mentorship and Maria Miller inspired the crowd with ways volunteers can amplify their impact beyond the match. Brittany Wright and Jordan DeLaney shared a lineup of upcoming events and opportunities to stay involved with BBBSMA.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to the team at Maggiano’s Little Italy for their generous hospitality and for helping us create such a warm, welcoming space.

Events like the Big Welcome Dinner are a reflection of the core values of service and community. They are also a key part of our volunteer engagement efforts, helping Bigs feel seen, supported, and inspired, whether they’re just starting or recommitting to their match.

We hope moments like these will encourage others to step into the role of a Big, or reignite the passion in those who have served before.
