Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta Welcomes Pierre Gaither as Chief Operating Officer
Atlanta, GA – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) is proud to announce Pierre Gaither as the organization’s new Chief Operating Officer. A proud Atlanta native, Gaither brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in both government and nonprofit management to the role, along with a deep commitment to the youth and families of the metro Atlanta community.

Gaither joins BBBSMA with a proven track record in strategic operations, organizational development, and community engagement. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of the Atlanta Board of Education, where he worked across four administrations and alongside four superintendents to advance educational equity and policy reform. Prior to that, he served as Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Community Improvement Association, where he led initiatives focused on housing, neighborhood revitalization, and economic mobility.
A culture builder and transformational leader, Gaither is also a Big Brother in the BBBSMA program, further underscoring his belief in the power of mentorship. “Pierre’s passion for service, dedication to youth, and deep community roots align perfectly with our mission,” said Kwame Johnson, President & CEO of BBBSMA. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to our Executive Leadership Team as we grow our mission and reimagine what’s possible for metro Atlanta’s youth.”
“My career has consistently aligned my passion with my profession. BBBSMA holds special significance for me, as it has transformed me from a mentor to a forever Big Brother,” said Gaither. “I have been a long-time supporter of the program as both a participant and partner; now, I can make an impact from within as a member of the team.”
Gaither holds a Bachelor of Arts from Morehouse College and a Master of Public Administration from Clark Atlanta University. His leadership and service have been recognized throughout the city, including being named Citizen of the Year by the Atlanta Police Foundation and honored in the Apex Power 30 Under 30. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Outstanding Atlanta, and the 100 Black Men of Atlanta.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gaither is a proud husband to Jewanna and father to two children, Peyton and Jean-Pierre.
With this new addition to its executive leadership team, BBBSMA looks forward to expanding its reach and impact-providing life-changing mentorship to more children across metro Atlanta.
