‘100 Men to Mentors’ Partnership with City of Atlanta Boosts Volunteer Interest
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta sees a major rise in volunteer mentor inquiries after the launch of a partnership with Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms recently announced a bold, new partnership between the city of Atlanta and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA). The city is seeking 100 men to volunteer as mentors to boys in Atlanta, aged 6 to 14, who are currently on the waiting list with BBBSMA.
The response has been overwhelmingly positive – with more than 200 men filing inquiries to begin the process of becoming a Big Brother. This comes after President & CEO of BBBSMA, Kwame Johnson, led 4 informational sessions at various sites throughout the city. The “MENformational” sessions gave key insights into BBBSMA, and being a mentor – while also serving to begin moving participants through the Big Brothers Big Sisters application and on-boarding process.
